Can I buy cryptocurrencies in my self-managed super fund?
Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies have been around for many years but in recent months they have been in the news as their daily values go up and down more often than the highest rollercoaster in the world, The Kingda Ka in New Jersey.

More tax savings for small business
From 1 January 2018, certain types of insurance for small business are no longer liable for stamp duty.

Do you qualify as a small business?  The entity must:

  • Be carrying on a business; and
  • Have aggregated turnover of less than $2 million

Are you in the building and construction industry?
If you are in the building and construction industry you will need to be registered with the NSW Long Service Corporation. (Other states have similar schemes).

The scheme is available to employees, employers and self-employed. It provides portable long service benefits for eligible workers in the building and construction industry.

New Partner at S&W
We have some big news at Stanley & Williamson.

We have decided to bolster our partner ranks and we have appointed a new partner.

Kamal Thakkar, who joined us in January 2017 has been appointed a partner of the firm effective 1 March 2018.

Kamal is a registered company auditor and is heading up our rapidly growing audit division. He brings significant experience and knowledge to the firm from his previous roles in various mid-tier firms, both here and in the UK.  We are very excited to have Kamal commit to the firm as a partner and we look forward to providing an even more extensive range of services to our clients.
