Kreston Global recently held its Asia Pacific Conference in the city of Hanoi, Vietnam, gathering industry leaders from various countries, including our very own Partner Kamal Thakkar.

The conference began with a welcome dinner at the JW Marriott Hanoi, creating a relaxed atmosphere for attendees to network and reconnect. Dung Nguyen, the Managing Partner of Kreston VN, began the proceedings with an overview of the local business landscape. This was followed by a keynote address from Lim Chor Ghee, Chairman of Kucingko Berhad, who delivered insightful perspectives on the region’s economic drivers, setting the stage for the discussions that followed.

The conference also featured the introduction of two new member firms: Kreston Thailand and Helmi Talib from Singapore. Kamal, who is also leading the Asia Pacific Regional Committee, was given the chance to present the committee’s strategic plans and initiatives for the region.

On the final day of the conference, attendees participated in breakout sessions dedicated to their respective groups. Kamal, APAC Regional Director of the Global Audit Group (GAG), led a session addressing the group’s progress and plans for 2024. Together with Vineeth Rathi, they examined the major challenges in the audit industry, such as the decline in new entrants and issues related to retention and attraction.

In addition to Kamal and Vineet’s presentations, speakers such as Jenny Reed, Jerome De Gala, Rich Howard, Sudhir Kumar, and Maria Howlader shared insights on improving the industry and enhancing client service. The breakout session ended with a panel discussion and Q&A, allowing attendees to delve deeper into the topics and engage with the panellists. The conference ended with a tour of Hanoi, offering attendees a chance to explore the city’s vibrant history and culture. This experience reinforced the connections forged over the past few days, leaving everyone with valuable follow-up opportunities and strengthening connections.

Reflecting on the success of the Asia Pacific Conference in Hanoi, Kamal emphasised the importance of collaboration and knowledge-sharing within Kreston Global. His leadership and insights underscored the organisation’s commitment to fostering meaningful relationships and driving collective success.
